FILE TAXES ONLINE FREE+REFUND IN 8 DAYS+MONEY SAVING OPTIONS FOR COMPLEX RETURNS

It's that time again! We call it "TAX TIME" twice a year...you either look forward to it in January or you dread it in April or October! January is most usually for those that will be getting a REFUND and is therefore greatly anticipated by many! We won't even touch on the dread of those that aren't so lucky and wait until later in the year.

Tax preparation can be overwhelming no matter how simple or complex. If all the forms seem mind boggling and you want to save yourself some money this year, HELP IS HERE !

I've been using TurboTax for the past 10+ years to file my taxes online. My own tax returns have always been a bit more complex because I itemize and have always had some sort of home based business, as well as a land based company for several years. No matter how complex, TurboTax has always made it very simple to file my return online. It really does just walk you through it!

Very early when I was first married, we used a local tax service and I still cringe at the amount of money we literally gave him every year to do what we now know is very simple. We were charged a "Bookkeeping Fee", Filing Fees and if you were getting a refund and wanted to get it quickly, a HUGE amount was charged for that.

Don't even get me started on the fine print of getting your own money back from a tax service. "RAL" = Refund Anticipation LOAN and all I can say without writing a book on it is that you should not give your money away so that you can get your money a day or so faster. You waited an entire year to get it...is it really worth hundreds of dollars to get it 1 or 2 days faster?

You can Prepare, File & Print your Taxes Online with TurboTax and save yourself quite a bit of money. Here's just a few highlights, if you're new to TurboTax.

  • Easy Questions, Tailored to You — They ask questions in plain English and then put your answers on the right forms for you. TurboTax skips interview questions that don’t apply to you, so you can finish your return faster.

  • Get Your Biggest Possible Refund, Guaranteed — They guarantee TurboTax Online will get you your biggest refund possible

  • Continue at Your Own Pace — Save your progress. Do your taxes at your own pace, at any time of day. You can even skip around in your free tax return.

  • No Risk — Try it without creating a user ID. Save your info when you want to.

You have absolutely nothing to lose by checking this out for yourself. Get started for FREE Right now!

CLICK HERE to see how easy TurboTax really is - You could have your Refund in as little as 8 DAYS !

Prepare, print and e-file your simple return with TurboTax® Federal Free Edition!

TurboTax - Do your Taxes for Free - It's Easy

I'll be posting some filing tips and some reader submitted Q & A's, especially for those that have a home based business and/or online income. Stay tuned!

Tipster Tuesday - Marriage & Budget

Save money at your favorite Restaurants

Well, this weeks Tipster Tuesday is a little different than usual! But there are actually two tips I'm gonna share that I've been very excited about.

My hubby and I had fallen into a "rut" for the last few monthes or so. I was working about 50 hours a week with mixed up hours/shifts so I had been either at work or asleep, literally! That's not only wearing on the one doing it (me!) but it wears down the other half as well. I had to take a step back and remind myself of all that is important to me in my life. The top of the list being my children and my hubby. While the rest of the world looks on and things things are going so well for you, they have no idea. Working those kind of hours every week takes it toll on everyone. And it's only when you take the time to slow down and analyze things that you realize it. It's so strange how people around you can praise you for "doing so well" based on their own idea of what "success" is. Well, I'm sorry, but working 50 hours a week, rarely getting to see my children other than late at night when they are already asleep or early in the morning long enough to say I've gotta go to work...that's NOT my idea of success or of my life "going so well". It never has been. I went back to work in 2008 because circumstances called for it, but as always, circumstances change and priorities reallign :) In the past 15 years, I've worked a total of 3 years outside the home, the rest was either with my own business, or my extra money making ventures. I'm an obsessive budgeting, penny pinching, thrift store shopping nut(!), have no debt other than house & a very manageable car payment, so to conform to someone elses idea that I am "doing well" only when I am working outside my home, just because that is the "normal" thing to do...well, it's just senseless to me. I'm grateful that God has planted in me some great creativity and skill to be able to predictably earn money from home with various outlets. So anyways, yes, I'm bucking the "normal" and the "doing so well" comparisons that I get measured up with!

Anyways, my point before I rambled...hehe...was that in the last couple weeks, my hubby and I have been working through a lot of issues that stemmed from me working so much. We really just needed to spend some time together...amidst the craziness of life, kids, bills, etc., etc., sometimes we forget that. That's Tip #1 this week...to make a conscious effort to reconnect with your spouse. So I've done a couple things that I'm excited about and just had to share with you all!

First of all, I booked us a little getaway to a really nice 4 star hotel(Big Savings at CheapOStay!)...just 2 nights and not so far away, but with two purposes in mind! Joyce Meyer is coming to Winston Salem which I had planned to go to and carpool with friends, but he said he wanted to come with me! I thought that would be the perfect time for us to get away from everything and have some alone time. So we'll be heading to Winston to see Joyce on that Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I can't wait! I told him I booked us a room, but didn't spill all the details about it, so our very nice suite with a jacuzzi tub will be a surprise!

To top it off, ( and FINALLY, here is my other tip!)I decided we needed to make a weekly date night. Always say it and never do it...so it got added to my schedule. And, of course, eating out usually blows a budget and completely absorbs any money you saved on other things, so I found a way to eat out with my husband once a week, for less than I can cook at home! Here's how !

    Tip #2 this week :

With this site, you can purchase gift certificates online
any day of the week to some of your favorite places! The savings are unbelievable! You can get a $25 gift certificate for just $10.

To top that off, when you sign up to get their emails, you'll get the discount codes, so here's what I did:

I purchased $100 worth of gift certificates to 3 of our favorite restaurants and I only paid $6..yes, SIX BUCKS for $100 !!! That was one $50 gift certificate and 2 $25 gift certificates. You print them out and they are valid for 1 year. I love it! I don't know why I didn't know about this before now, but now that I do, IT IS ON !!

So do you need to spend some more time with your significant other? Need to plan a date night but don't want to blow your budget? Go snag a gift certificate for $10 or less!

That is a definate Frugal Fabulous Find! And spending some alone time with my awesome husband is the icing on the cake !

    Get $4 off $20 at CVS !

So I stumbled upon a really great "rewards" type program for Recycling! RecycleBank.com partners with cities and haulers to reward households for recycling. Households earn RecycleBank Points that can be used to shop at over 1,500 local and national businesses.

And of course, it's not available in my area :( BUT, even if you can't collect rewards for your daily/weekly curbside recycling, you can still participate and get points.

    Here's a quick way to snag $4 off $20 at CVS !

    1) Create a RecycleBank Account on their site
    2) Login and then go the Go to the "Earn Points" Tab
    3) Join the Ebay Green Team for 50 points
    4) Go to "Get Rewards" and choose "Pharmacies" from the list
    5) Redeem 50 points for $4 off $20 at CVS

They will mail you the coupon ! Pretty simple:)

There are other ways to earn points and also lots of things to redeem them on. Many seem to require a lot of points, but if you go through the sections, you'll find quite a few really good coupon and savings offers. I mailed in some old cell phones and mp3 players that were broken and got points for them! They even pay for the postage to mail items to them, you just print it and attach to package! Pretty nice way to Recycle, I'd say it's a definate Frugal Fabulous Find !

Thoughts for Thursday - About Me

So who is this person constantly posting all this stuff? If you don't know me, here are some of my thoughts of who I am and how I got here :)

I am a 30 something wife to one, mom to 3 and GRANDmom to 1.

My children are now 9, 14 and 18. (Wow! That really makes me feel old!)

I was married (the first time around) in 1994 (at the too young age of 20)and was blessed to be a stay at home mom and raise my children full time while they were babies. I feel very fortunate that I had those early years - from 1995 through 2008 without the added stress of having to work, put them in daycares, etc. Of course, being home 24/7 comes with it's own added stresses and I remember the times when it got overwhelming...no adult conversations, (seemingly) unrewarded efforts, day in and day out of laundry, meal planning, diaper changing and household cleaning!

I learned to make my own "getaway" at home. I took that time to become an avid flower gardener and landscaper. The minute they went down for a nap, I was in the yard! I practiced and played with home decor, faux painting and anything and everything that had to do with making "home" a better place to be! I became a queen of "trash to treasure", literally! I was always hunting for things to give new life to and beautify my surroundings(without much $) After all, it was my world !

One of the things I am most grateful for is having learned how to live on one income, just as happily as most people live on two incomes! From coupons and deals to yard sales, flea markets and thrift shops, I learned not only how to SAVE money, but how to MAKE money. I "recycled" all the kids clothes in consigment stores where I used that money to purchase what else they needed. Since consignment means giving up at least 50% of the sale amount, I eventually taught myself how to sell on ebay. Once that happened, it was all over! No longer was I just "recycling" our own household items, I was on a mad hunt for more things I could make some extra $ with ! My love for that lead me to rent a monthly booth at a local flea market and on and on and on....

Without spilling my entire life on the internet, let me just say that I went through a divorce in 2005. Thankfully, having not worked a "real job" for 12 years, I was able to "make it" for another 3 years providing for myself and my 3 children. In 2008, I decided to get a part time job, to help pay the bills and honestly, to get me out of the house. My children were now at the age where not only did they not need me holding their hand anymore, they really didn't want me to either! (That's another blog post...we'll dive into that some other time!)

And now it's 2010 !!! Where does the time go? My little part time job, turned into a full time Management position. Somehow, everything I ever do I'm either ALL or NOTHING ! I guess that's a good thing, but it is honestly never intended! It just kind of works out that way. I also did something I never imagined I would do again...I got married in 2009! I have the most understanding, sincere, honest and open-hearted husband. He is the real deal, and I am grateful that our paths crossed and changed both of our lives forever.

    Ok, back to 2010 !!

I recently posted about a huge disappointment with a promotion I had been promised for 3 monthes that fell through....and that has vividly reminded me of the major downsides to being someone else's employee.

Just in time for the new year, I've taken that disappointment as another nudge to reallign my priorities and remember that for me, it has ALWAYS been the Quality of life that I loved and NOT the Quantity of it. The stress of working full time, juggling 3 kids, laundry, housework and all that being a mom involves (no matter how old they get!) And to reinforce that even more, I just found out that I have to have some minor surgery within the next 2 weeks. Nothing major, but it will require at least a month of being at home to recoop and I will not be able to work for at least a month. Now if all these things coinciding at once is not a loud and clear signal to me, then I wouldn't know one if it hit me in the forehead!

So, here's to my blog....to spending more time at home doing what I love and what keeps me stress-free. Being able to be there when my kids get out of school.... Being able to eat lunch with them at school whenever they ask...picking them up instead of making them ride the bus, having a clean house, catching up on laundry, taking a nap when I want, spending the entire day in my robe-just because I can! And many more "little" things that keep peace in my life.

As spoken by Sandra Bullock in "Hope Floats"....

"Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad...it's the middle that counts the most..."

    My beautiful children & Grandbaby

    Then:

    And NOW ! ( +1 !)

Monday's Money Maker Tips - Surveys, Reviews, Paid Emails & More!

The past few Mondays I have shared some of the ways I made extra money in 2009. From Ebay to Flea Market booths to Jewelry Assembly at home, I am constantly finding new ways to make money whether you work full time, part-time or are a SAHM ! In other words, I love to find ways to make those extra $$, but still manage a busy schedule!

Since I already shared my top money makers, I figured it was time to share some of the other ways that you can make money online. We've all heard of paid surveys, emails, etc. There are so many of them online now! It's very difficult to tell the difference from the ones that will actually send you a paycheck and those that only spam you with a million emails and "enter you" into a drawing or whatever... I've figured out that the best way to do this is to set up an email account specifically for this. (yahoo, gmail, etc.) That way your main inbox is not flooded with junk mail that can get overwhelming.

Once you sign up to a site, "skip" all the offers that they will bombard you with immediately. They, too, are making $ by your signups to those sites, as well. Stick to just the offers that come from the actual site you signed up with. Join the other sites on your own if you desire, later. I "pass" on offers that seem frivolous and wait for the ones that offer immediate payment/credit. One tip is to complete that sites "profile", which will get you surveys that are customized to your family size, lifestyle, age, etc. I recommend testing it out with one or two sites before you go join a ton of others. You'll learn by participating in the first ones what to do and not do, in order to get the genuine offers.

Most legitimate sites will require you to select a payment form option. I recommend you set up a Paypal Account to receive your payments. They are a reputable, long standing payment provider online and make it very easy to transfer your payments to your bank or to use them for online purchases, etc.

Once you've set up your new email and payment processor, you're ready to go!

Below are some of the most popular online money makers, that I personally DO make money with. Have fun & remember it's not a "get rich quick" scheme. It is, however, a nice way to earn some extra cash!
