Monday's Money Maker Tips - Find the hidden money in your house!

Years ago when my kids were just babies, thankfully I grasped onto a very valuable lesson for keeping my household "clutter" free. That's one of the reasons I began selling items on Ebay, Amazon, Flea Markets, and also began using Consignment Shops to make some extra monthly income, while also recycling our clothing and household items.

There are so many lessons to learn about "De-cluttering" your home. I think what hit me most, at first, was the idea that the condition of your home truly reflects the condition of your life. In most cases, if your home is full of "clutter" and you can't seem to find something when you need it (because it's mixed in with all the stuff you don't need!) then most likely, your life in general has those episodes of chaos and no direction.

Nowadays, this is much more talked about then when I grabbed hold of it 15 years ago! They say most families have at least $500 sitting in their home...things they no longer need or use. That's motivation enough for me!

The rule in our house is if we don't use it within 6 monthes, it's time to either give it to someone that will or sell it and make some extra cash ! I stick to this firmly! Every couple monthes ( at least!) I go through drawers and closets. I get a laundry basket and start pulling what is no longer used or needed. Items in best condition get sold and others get donated. It's just that simple!

Biblically, as many of you know, I was also inspired to become a better steward of ALL that God has entrusted to me. For only when you prove to be faithful over the little, will God increase you to be faithful over much more!

    Luke 16:10

He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.

    Matthew 25:23

Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.

Think of all the families that now save money buying thier families clothing, toys and other necessities and household items from consignment shops, ebay, amazon, flea markets, yard sales & thrift stores! I'm one of those, too, of course :)

So, look around your house and you'll be amazed at what you find that will quickly turn into cash, while also helping another family to save money on needed items.

How much money do you have laying around the house? Is it time to have a yard sale or make a big donation to your local Goodwill or other community ministry or thrift shop? Or maybe it's time to test your skills with ebay! This is what started all of my money making ventures...exchanging what we didn't need anymore for things we do need and/or the $$ to get them!

Right now is the best time of year to do that "De-cluttering" and have a yard sale! The quickest way to get rid of the clutter and make some extra money!

How to Better Manage Your Coupons ! My DIY Coupon Organizing Systems - Old & New !

WOW, I can't believe I waited so long to implement my new Coupon Organizing System! So many have you have had struggles with your "Coupon Binders" and other various ways to keep your coupons in one spot and so did I ! You've been asking me this for quite a while now, and I've finally gotten it finished enough to share with you! (Although I've implemented it for the past week and it's gone so smoothly!)

The number one complaint is about printing your coupons and then having a stack of printed pages to pile up that you will need to cut and then put into your binder or whatever system you are using.

Here is a shot at my OLD "coupon binder", which I made from CD holder. The pages held CD's so they were larger than the 9 pocket baseball card style pages. That was a definate improvement, but it still didn't fix my problems with keeping the Q's cut and filed, and readily available without a major hunt.

THE OLD COUPON BINDER MADE WITH A 4 POCKET CD HOLDER

I have made this constant task so much easier! In my new system, I can quickly file any printed page without having to cut or clip, and wait until I'm preparing my shopping list and matching up my coupons before I cut them out! This has saved me a lot of time just in the last week alone! And better than that....I've had NO huge pile of coupons at my printer that I needed to sort and file or clip and cut ! Whew, that helps me out in the "procrastination" department, as I always looked at that pile and told myself I'd do it "later"! Apparently, from your emails and FB posts, so have you!

I have to thank my years of working in offices for this one. It really is a no-brainer. We are on the constant hunt for this perfect coupon filing system, when a "filing system" has existed forever for most everything! As I've mentioned before, if you're serious about saving your family money, you have to view your couponing efforts as a business! And so, naturally, a business "Files" all things that are necessary to do business. If you've ever worked in an office (before major technology and transferring customer files, etc. into a computer database) then you recall the constant locating and grabbing a file for the task at hand.

So let's just get back to basics! Why make it so complicated? And that's what I've done and it is already paying off for me! ( You saw my .47cent and .68cent CVS and RITEAID trips this week! ) I account the ease of organizing this weeks coupon matchups and sales to my new "Frugal Fabulous Filing System" :)

At the moment, it is bare bones! Aside from my color choice of pink files and a black folder for them, there has been no "glamour" added. It is exactly what it needs to be. Sitting right on top of your desk or by your printer, it is always open and only takes a quick glance to see what folder to place the printed paper in. It's a way to quickly file your coupons when you print them, so they don't pile up, and then quickly grab them when you get ready to head to the stores. Only cut them as you need, while you are already organizing your trip & savings! It really is that simple!

One quick tip and explanation!More will follow in a later post:

I've posted before that I have a distinct way of organizing my trips based on the store coupons & matchups I do at home. I'm going to do another full post on that ( I did it once about CVS and RITEAID) But basically, I have all the Q's filed by categories in files. I also have folders for specific stores. I pull the store I'm going to go to, print my list from that stores site/weekly circular, match my coupons to sales and then it all remains in that stores folder. I take that one folder into the store with me that already has my shopping list printed, with my actual pricing info (so no surprises at the register!) and all my coupons! It has been working very well for me! I used to do take my whole binder and before that my "organizer" and I just got too aggrivated hunting through them while in the store. This simplifiles it for me- list, coupons...get what you came for snag your savings and get out, with no extras to hunt through!

Stay tuned and check back soon, as I will be posting in detail all of the "How-to" Suggestions and tips to start your own!

Mondays Money Maker Tips - The proof that COUPONS = $$$$

I've been organizing my office, which somehow seems to be in a constant state of clutter! I'm in the middle of setting up a new coupon organizing system that I'm going to be sharing with you all soon! I can't wait! So many of you have asked me about this and I was still unhappy with the functionality of my "coupon binder", so I came up with a system to organize from the minute they hit my printer until I clip them and then use them at the store. Before this, I would have piles of coupons I printed and never filed, then it took forever to sort & clip them to go into the binder!

Sharing my new coupon organizing system will be next weeks MONDAY MONEY MAKER TIP.

How is this a Money Maker?

Because COUPONS=$$$$, and if you don't believe that, you should have been with me this past week at RiteAid!

I had a BOGO Physicians Formula coupon and they had Physicians Formula on sale for Buy One Get One Half Price. I chose a loose powder which was $13.89 and a pressed powder which was about the same price. With my coupon, that made them BOTH FREE ! Well, I went through checkout and watched her scan the coupons and my total was more than I had thought. I paid and went to the car to go back over my receipt. The cashier had scanned the BOGO coupon, but had not manually entered the item price of $13.89 for the discounted amount.

Of course, I went back in and showed the manager. He pulled the coupon from her register, scanned it again and gave me a FULL CASH REFUND for the $13.89 ! (Thank you so much to Store Mgr. RANDY @ Albemarle's First Street RITE AID!)

So, YES, coupons really do equal money !! And I walked out of the store with the $13.89 cash for that coupon and the 2 FREE Physicians Formula items worth $27.78 :)

It's time that everyone realizes that those little pieces of paper are equivalent to cash! And to help myself and those of you that have asked, I'm diligently working on my new organizing system to hold all of this money :) It has already made it so much less cluttered in my office and near my printer and I can't wait to see how it goes after a full week of putting it into action!

I'll be sharing all the details and the inexpensive way you can setup your own system like mine for next weeks Monday Money Maker Tips, until then, here are a few reminders about your coupons and the coming month end and (Can you believe it!) the new month ahead in APRIL!

Don't forget to PRINT COUPONS before they reset on Thursday!

Get serious about couponing! For me, it is a business! Not just a lifestyle, not just a trend...it is an action that does require my effort and equivilates to money for my home and my family. I put the time in and it pays off greatly!

Learn more about couponing if you are new!

Search through the posts here on my blog under the topic tags to your left ( like: "Couponing 101" )

If you REALLY want to get a handle on your finances, couponing is one of the quickest and easiest ways to cut back on spending. To be really successful with it and even amaze yourself at how much you save, soak up all the info you can and then apply it through your own trial and error. It won't take you long to catch on and once you see the savings and walk out of a store with bags of stuff you got for free, well, then you will definately realize it's not a trend and make it much more than a lifestyle and a nice little "business" that you enjoy devoting a time to !

    Happy Couponing:)
